Akwa Ibom Extends Curfew By 13 Hours

The Govt of Akwa Ibom has prolonged curfew within the state by 13 hours from 12midday on Friday to 7am on Saturday, 24th October 2020.

The curfew was imposed by Governor Udom Emmanuel, following the violent demonstration that erupted after two individuals suspected to be EndSARS protesters have been shot useless by a suspected safety agent alongside Willington Bassey Means, Uyo Akwa Ibom State.

The commissioner of Info and Technique, Ini Ememobong, in a press release on Friday, stated the extension was as a result of unfolding occasions and conditions being monitored by the state and safety businesses.

The assertion reads partly, “On account of creating conditions being monitored by the state authorities and safety businesses and the inevitable want to guard residents and property, primarily based on overriding the general public curiosity, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has prolonged the curfew, which was initially on account of expire by midday of 23rd October 2020, until 7 am on Saturday, 24th October 2020.

This curfew has a statewide impact.

“Expectedly, there can be a complete cessation of motion, aside from these on important duties, who should present correct identification.

“All law-abiding residents are suggested to stay at residence, as safety businesses have been briefed to strictly implement this order.”
