Australian High Commissioner, Claire Ireland Tenders Apology Over Comment About #EndSARS Protest




An apology has been tendered by the Australian Excessive Commissioner to Nigeria, Claire Eire over a ‘unhappy’ remark she made regarding #EndSARS protest. 


Claire Eire had taken to Twitter to recommendation Australian residents to keep away from the protest and comply with the recommendation of native authorities.


She tweeted; 


“REVISED MSG: There are ongoing protests in Abuja, Lagos and different areas in Nigeria. Keep away from these protests and comply with the recommendation of native authorities.”


Nevertheless after being referred to as out over the tweet, she apologized and acknowledged that she did not imply to indicate that the protests had been violent. 


She added; 


“I want to apologise for earlier message. We didn’t imply to indicate the protests had been violent generally. We respect folks’s proper to peacefully protest.”
