BREAKING: ASUU, NASU shut out LASU VC, students as school resumes

Pandemonium broke within the early hours on Monday within the Lagos State College, Ojo Campus, when members of the Tutorial Workers Union of Universities, ASUU, and the Non-Tutorial Workers Union of Universities, NASU, barred the Vice-Chancellor of the establishment, Prof Olanrewaju Fagboun and college students from having access to premises.

It was gathered that the motion was on account of protest by the union members over non-payment of increment in salaries promised by the Lagos State Authorities after a 12 months when the promise was made.

This got here on the heels of resumption as introduced by of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for tertiary establishments within the state to reopen on September 14, 2020.

College students in 300 and 400 ranges have been to renew Monday, with different members of workers that had been on lockdown on account of ravaging COVID-19 pandemic.

Bother began as early as 7 am as union members took over the doorway of the college from safety personnel and turned again each human and vehicular actions from going out and in of the premises.

All entreaties by the vice-chancellor to prevail on the protesters was not heeded. The hassle to get a response from the consultant of Lagos State Authorities was ongoing at press time.
