Chief Of Navy Employees Given 7 Days To Clarify ‘Unaccounted’ N11.5m

Chief of Naval Employees, Ibok Ibas has been given 7 days to seem earlier than the Home of Representatives committee on public accounts to defend a question on N11.5 million unaccounted for by the navy.

Ibas was served the question by the workplace of the auditor-general which stated that N11.5 million was paid as lease for a four-bedroom condo in Ikoyi, Lagos State by the Nigerian Navy. It was additional learnt that the receipt didn’t replicate the length of the lease and in violation of economic laws, there was no deduction of Worth Added Tax (VAT) on the cost.

Nonetheless after a delegation of the navy which was led by the service’s assistant director of funds, Murtala Ahmed represented Mr Ibas earlier than the committee, chairman of the committee, Wole Oke (PDP, Osun), expressed dissatisfaction with non-appearance of the Chief of Naval Employees.

Oke stated;

“If the chief of Naval employees is indisposed to look earlier than this committee, the least I count on him to do is to ship both the Naval secretary or the chief of Naval account and budgets.

“Please this parliament belongs to you. Democracy survives on a tripod, certainly one of which is a really sturdy and vibrant armed forces. I believe the army has executed properly and fared higher beneath democratic governance.
