It has been reported that as many as 17 medical college students of Kaduna State College (KASU) have caught the damaging COVID-19.

Chairman KASU Educational Workers Union of Universities (ASUU), Comrade Tukur Abdulkadir, disclosed this to reporters on Friday, in response to The Nation.

He stated the optimistic circumstances have vindicated the union’s opposition to reopening of the establishment.

He stated: “As you’re conscious, the administration of Kaduna State College has opened the college and plans to conduct examination starting from Monday, 19th of October, 2020.

“To this second, Kaduna State Authorities has not formally introduced the re-opening of tertiary establishments. Though the 2019/2020 tutorial session has been considerably affected by Covid-19 lockdown, re-opening the college at this materials time is tantamount to buying and selling the lives of scholars and employees for the conduct of the examination.


“The choice by the administration of KASU to re-open is in gross violation of the Covid-19 Protocol as highlighted by the Presidential Process Power (PTF) and the Nationwide Centre for Illness Management (NCDC).



“This motion additionally violates the usual provision and laws guiding conduct of College examinations.

He stated the examination proposed for October 19 was not possible as a result of college students weren’t given adequate time for revision.

Apart from, he alleged the establishment haven’t been following COVID-19 protocols, hinting there have been neither enough spacing nor Private Protecting Gear (PPEs) for college kids and lecturers.

He warned there could be a spike in COVID-19 an infection contemplating the establishment is just not residential.
