The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Ondo state Governor,  Rotimi Akeredolu have petitioned the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Salami Bolaji over former Secretary to the State Authorities, Ifedayo Abegunde’s declare of rigging 2016 governorship election in Akeredolu’s favour.

It was reported  that Abegunde who insisted that Akeredolu didn’t win the 2016 governorship election whereas talking on a programme on Crest 87.7 Fm, mentioned he (Akeredolu) misplaced the 2016 governorship ballot to the then Peoples Democratic Celebration candidate, Eyitayo Jegede. He revealed that some “moneybags” within the All Progressives Congress (APC) together with himself, rigged Akeredolu into energy in 2016 by manipulating the election end in his favour.

Within the petition written to the police by his lawyer Mr. Femi Emmanuel Emodamori, Akeredolu acknowledged that such a declare must be investigated. He additionally described the allegation as false, reckless, mindless, and legal.

“In response to the official results of the governorship election printed by INEC, APC and its candidate, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu polled 224, 842 votes, whereas the Peoples Democratic Celebration and its candidate within the election, Eyitayo Jegede, polled 150, 380 votes.

“The Alliance for Democracy and its candidate within the election, Chief Olusola Oke, got here third, with complete votes of 126,889.

“Our purchasers emphatically state that the much-publicised allegation of manipulation of the 2016 Ondo State election by Sunday Ifedayo Abegunde is diametrically spurious, false, reckless, mindless, and legal.
