Drama As Sacks Of Diesel Are Found Hidden Inside A Beer Truck In Rivers

A syndicate of suspected oil thieves, who specialised in conveying illegally-refined petroleum merchandise in haulage vehicles from Rivers State to different components of the South-East, has been bursted by the Nigeria Safety and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in keeping with The Nation.

The Rivers State Commandant, Muktar Lawal, who paraded 16 suspected oil thieves in Port Harcourt on Thursday together with members of the syndicate, mentioned suspected illegally-refined Automotive Gasoline Oil (AGO) was saved in lots of sacks and packed in two haulage vehicles conveying crates of fashionable beer model.

Lawal, who carried out journalists around the vehicles, mentioned the sacks had been stored on the center of the truck with the crates of beer used to encompass them to provide an impression that the autos had been conveying solely the crates.

He mentioned following intelligence gathering, operatives of his command rounded up the vehicles alongside Iwofe Street, Obio-Akpor Native Authorities Space and arrested eight suspects.

Lawal mentioned all of the sacks contained about 46 drums hid in empty crates of beer, describing it as a significant breakthrough within the battle towards crude oil theft.

He mentioned the command additionally arrested a tanker conveying 48,000 litres of suspected crude oil including that conveyors of the product took to their heels on sighting a patrol workforce of NSCDC.

In all, 16 suspects had been reportedly arrested.
