#EndSARS Group Receives Over N77 Million In One Week

A not-for-profit organisation and one of many main supporters of the #EndSARS marketing campaign, Feminist Coalition, has acquired big sums of cash.

The group says it has acquired over N77m money donations in favour of the continued protests in opposition to police brutality and extrajudicial killings by males of the now-disbanded Particular Anti-Theft Squad of the Nigeria Police Power, in line with PUNCH reviews.

The group, whose targets embody “preventing injustice by means of peaceable protests, fundraising, and social media organisation” disclosed this in a press release on Thursday titled, ‘Progress Report – October 15th, 2020’.

It mentioned the funds have been raised “by means of the generosity of well-meaning folks and anxious Nigerians who need their voices to be heard and their calls for to be met.”

The assertion partly learn, “Over the previous week, there was a peaceable rebellion by the Nigerian youth, demanding for the disbandment of the infamous SARS unit, and the top to police brutality and an unjust judicial system.

“Like everybody else, we determined to play our half and assist struggle the injustice by means of fundraising so as to maintain the peaceable protests and make sure the security of Nigerians exercising their civic rights – by offering meals, water and different refreshments, masks, medical support, and authorized support for protesters.

“Now we have raised a complete sum of: NGN 62,643,663.05; USD 11,474.34 (N4.3m), CAD 5,595.89 (N1.6m), GBP 5,733.49 (N2.8m), EUR 875.42 (N390,225), GHS 1,256.70 (N81,823), KES 53,016.60 (183,656) and BTC 1.28827988 (N5.5m).

“With these funds, now we have supported 100 peaceable protests in 25 states, paid NGN 759,080 in medical payments for injured protesters, donated NGN 400,000 to the households of victims murdered by law enforcement officials whereas protesting peacefully, paid NGN 500,000 in authorized support and spent N 11,367,500 on provides together with meals, water, masks amongst different issues for the peaceable protesters.”

The PUNCH had earlier reported that the founding father of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, expressed assist for the #EndSARS protests when he shared a tweet by @Feministcoalition which had the best way to make donations to the marketing campaign.

Youths have been protesting in opposition to police brutality and killings for over one week, grounding financial actions in main components of the nation.
