Governor Ikpeazu Shut Down Bakasi Market After Assault On Fireplace Service Automobiles

The Governor of Abia state Okezie Ikpeazu has ordered the rapid closure of Umuehilegbu Industrial Market, popularly referred to as Bakasi Market, Aba, following a mob assault on Abia State Fireplace Service and the destruction of Abia State Fireplace Service automobiles on Monday, August 10.

In keeping with studies, the boys of the state hearth service failed to reply on time to regulate a hearth incident available in the market. When the Fireplace Service automobiles lastly arrived, an offended mob launched an assault, burning the automobiles.

An announcement signed by the Chief of Workers to the Governor, Dr. A.C.B Agbazuere on the shut down of the market reads:

“Following the unwarranted assault of males of the Abia State Fireplace Service and the destruction of Abia State Fireplace Service automobiles, the Governor of Abia State, Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, Ph.D has authorised the rapid closure of Umuehilegbu Industrial Market popularly referred to as Bakasi Market, Aba.

“The Chairman and all members of Umuehilegbu Industrial Market Administration Committee are hereby suspended.

“The Police and different safety companies are to safeguard the market and equally arrest all perpetrators of the illicit acts for consequential prosecution.”

Some individuals have been arrested in relation to the assault.
