Gunmen Abducts Ex-Nasarawa Commissioner, Demand N30m Ransom

A former Commissioner for Increased Schooling in Nasarawa State, Clement Uhembe has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

Uhembe, who can be a Senior Lecturer within the Division of Political Science on the Federal College, Lafia, was kidnapped at his Lafia residence, on Tuesday evening.

The abductors had since reached out to Uhembe’s household, asking for a ransom of N30m.

Confirming the incident to The PUNCH, spouse of the sufferer, Amarya Uhembe, mentioned the abductors, numbering about ten, hit the household’s residence and whisked the lecturer away.

She mentioned, “They (gunmen) got here at about eight:30pm and began knocking forcefully on the door whereas my husband was within the interior room. I moved near the door to see who was knocking solely to find that they had been closely armed males.”

The Police Public Relations Officer within the state, ASP Ramhan Nansel, who additionally confirmed the incident, mentioned the Command had already drafted its males to the scene of the incident and efforts had been on to safe the discharge of the sufferer.
