Particulars have emerged displaying how a soldier in Northeast Nigeria dedicated suicide, on Thursday, after he was publicly punished by his superior for alleged telephone theft, a report by Premium Instances has revealed.

 

The soldier, recognized as Lance Corporal Victor Ojeamiran, was connected to the Nigerian Military 27 Job Pressure Brigade in Buni Gari, Gujba Native Authorities Space of Yobe State.

 

The 27 Job Pressure is a type of combating the Boko Haram extremists in Northeast Nigeria.

Mr Ojeamiran couldn’t bear the shame of the video of him being publicly punished for a ‘false accusation’ and he didn’t have an opportunity to defend himself earlier than the punishment, our sources stated.

 

He informed his colleagues, together with one in all our sources, that he doesn’t know what to inform his spouse and youngsters in regards to the video, and the way he was disgraced within the eyes of the world for a criminal offense he didn’t commit.

 

Therefore, he determined to take his life after he returned to base by capturing himself on the top.

When PREMIUM TIMES, on Saturday, contacted the spokesperson of the 27 Job Pressure, Chinonso Oteh, a lieutenant, he promised to get again to this reporter with an official place. He has ignored subsequent calls and messages to his telephone since then.

 

Nevertheless, PREMIUM TIMES has seen an inside memo by the military confirming the suicide however claiming it occurred on Sunday, September 20. Within the memo, the military stated an “investigation has commenced on the circumstances that led to the incident.”
