Lagos Police Commissioner Apologises After Officers Brutalized PUNCH Journalist (Photos)

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos, Hakeem Odumosu, has reacted after a journalist with PUNCH, Kayode Jaiyeola was brutalized by his officers.

The journalist was bodily assaulted by a policeman whereas protecting a protest on Thursday by members of the #RevolutionNow Motion within the Maryland space of the town.

Odumosu whereas condemning the assault on the journalist mentioned that the policeman, who carried out the assault can be punished.

He mentioned, “The one which was overwhelmed was out misconduct of that officer. Even when he’s a protester, he has his rights, to not speak of a journalist doing his lawful obligation.

“He’s a Nigerian and has the precise to try this and even when he has finished something towards the legislation, is that the process of the police? Is that the skilled means of arresting any person and making them face the legislation? No.

“That isn’t the process in legislation and it’s utterly unprofessional and motion will probably be taken towards that this night. So, as soon as once more I sincerely apologise for that.”

The protesters – a lot of whom have been arrested by the police – are demanding for higher governance from the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
