Manchester United news and transfers LIVE Sancho and Kane latest as Solskjaer sends message to fans

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Women’s manager Casey Stoney have sent a message to supporters urging them to stay at home to help fight the coronavirus outbreak.

“Firstly, on behalf of everyone at Manchester United, our thoughts are with anyone who has been directly affected by this virus and everyone dealing with the impact of it,” they wrote in an open letter.

“All of our gratitude goes to the healthcare staff working on the frontline of the NHS here in the UK and in hospitals around the world at this particular difficult time.

“We all have to adjust – fans, players, coaches – to a new way of living, without our fix of football, although we all agree that everyone’s health and wellbeing at this time is much more important.

“These are unprecedented times and we now need to all come together to combat this global pandemic. It is important for everyone to follow government guidelines to help control the spread of COVID-19, wherever you are in the world. Stay safe, stay home and we hope to see you all soon.”

Manchester United owners Glazer family must give Solskjaer his own Tom Brady

When you see a headline that begins with the words ‘Manchester United owners the Glazer family are more popular than ever’ you have to sit up and take notice.

It’s not a headline that has been particularly common in the past few years, amid supporter discontent with the United-owning family. But as with many tabloid headlines, all is not what it initially seems as it becomes obvious the article is about Tampa Bay Buccaneers and their capture of NFL legend Tom Brady from the New England Patriots.

It’s a fair enough story about the Glazer-owned American football team who are indeed popular with their supporters in Florida right now, with Brady a genuine galactico of the sport. The situation is equivalent to United signing Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi, an ageing but still legendary figure.

Brady’s deal with the Buccaneers is worth a reported £42m and it’s also been claimed the Glazers were ‘intimately involved’ in sealing the marquee signing.

Harry Kane transfer would get Manchester United challenging Liverpool FC again

Sometimes in the world of football transfers, there is no smoke without fire.

It proved to be the case with Bruno Fernandes and Manchester United, as hundreds of media links between the Sporting Lisbon playmaker and an Old Trafford transfer proved justified when the move finally went through.

In that instance, Fernandes seemed such an obvious target for United and – despite an initial plea from United sources claiming the links were overstated and the interest was exaggerated – the Portuguese star was eventually pictured shaking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s hand.

Despite the many who demanded the Fernandes deal had to happen, few predicted that he would instantly have such a transformative effect on United. In the space of nine appearance, three goals and four assists, however, he’s taken them to the next level and breathed new life in Solskjaer’s top four hopes – before this recent and unprecedented season suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Manchester United fans have transfer theory after Jadon Sancho calls Jesse Lingard on Instagram

Manchester United fans are convinced Jadon Sancho is heading to Old Trafford after the Borussia Dortmund star was joined on his Instagram live by Jesse Lingard.

The 19-year-old is a priority target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on the back of his exceptional season in the Bundesliga, netting 14 goals and registering 15 assists in the league so far.

Various reports suggest Sancho has decided to leave Dortmund at the end of the season and club CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke hinted the club would be willing to let their prized asset leave if he wishes to do so.

During the break from professional football, Sancho took questions from fans on his official Instagram page and was later joined by United star Lingard.
