Panic As Gunmen Abducts Catholic Priest For The Second Time In Delta

Rev. Fr. Jude Onyebadi

A Catholic priest has been kidnapped by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen for the second time in 4 years in Delta state.

Rev. Fr. Jude Onyebadi, the Parish Priest of Saint’s Peters & Paul, Issele Asagba, was stated to have been monitored and kidnapped in his farm, on the weekend, the place he went to examine his farm, staff and pay them for the work carried out.

Again in December 2016, he was kidnapped on his farm and launched just a few days after.

This time round, Fr. Onyebadi was taken into the bush alongside three staff in his farm. The three staff have been later let loose whereas the priest is being held incommunicado.

The search occasion organised by the relations of the priest along with locals within the space, together with members of the native vigilance group, haven’t yielded the specified outcomes.

Communication Director, Catholic Diocese of Issele Uku, Rev. Fr. Charles Uganwan, who confirmed the event, stated that the matter had been reported to the safety businesses and that members of the church had launched into prayers for his launch unharmed.

He stated the abductors haven’t made any contact or demanded ransom.

He, due to this fact, pleaded with the abductors who could not know that he’s a priest to launch him unconditionally.

When contacted, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the incident, saying: “The police have been dispatched to the bush to rescue the Catholic Priest.”
