An unidentified woman slumped on Monday September 21 in Calabar whereas protesting in opposition to her sack by the Cross River State Authorities.

Governor Ben Ayade had mid 2019, directed the delisting of about 2,500 names from the payroll of the Cross River State authorities, claiming that almost all of these employed between 2014 until then didn’t comply with due course of.

The sacked employees on Monday blocked entry to the state secretariat in protest over what they described as “unfair and unlawful delisting from the state payroll.”

The protesters who carried placards with inscriptions ‘we will protest until the tip’, ‘Head of Service must be sacked’’, ‘Ayade you betrayed us’, stated they had been uninterested in not listening to from the federal government and that the state labor union is complicit of their plights.

Talking to newsmen, Comrade Paul Ajie Abang who led the protesters stated that that they had initially given the state authorities a seven-day ultimatum to take motion or face an enormous protest and that it was their silence that has led to the peaceable protest.

Abang disclosed that the group had met with the Head of Service and all different related stakeholders to iron out the matter however it appears the federal government is insincere and doesn’t need to act, and that the group is not going to again down until the correct factor is completed.

One of many protesters who recognized himself as ‘Papa’ stated the protesters had been a part of the 2500 employees from the state who had been employed after which delisted from the state’s payroll.

“We’re the 2500 employees of the state authorities who had been duly employed, received their appointment letter, after which delisted from the payroll by the federal government. We’re taking this battle upon ourselves as a result of labor has failed us. We’re out right here preventing for our rights and we’ve got no plan of leaving right here till our voices are heard.” he stated.

“We’re right here to let the world know of the injustice being meted to us. for a 12 months and one month now we’ve got not obtained our salaries and the federal government is tossing us round.” He added.

In the meantime, it was gathered that the lady who was till her sack a employees of the ministry of well being was later revived and brought house.
