Pastor accused of killing native doctor in Anambra

The Police Command in Anambra says it has commenced investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the alleged homicide of a local physician by a pastor.

An announcement issued on Friday in Awka by SP Haruna Mohammed, the Command’s spokesman, recognized the sufferer as 60-year-old Oliver Ugwu of Umusiome village, Nkpor close to Onitsha.

He stated the suspect, Uchenna Chukwuma, 21, who reside at Ugwuezue avenue, Umusiome Nkpor close to Onitsha, allegedly carried out the homicide with a machete on Sept. three.

“The suspect, who hails from Amagunze in Nkanu East LGA of Enugu State, claimed throughout interrogation that he was despatched by God to kill the native physician.

“The suspect additional alleged that the sufferer was disturbing him spiritually and had not allowed him to progress financially,” Mohammed acknowledged.

The Police spokesman stated detectives connected to Ogidi Division led by the DPO, CSP Ekuri Remigius visited the scene of the crime and rushed the sufferer to Iyi Enu hospital Ogidi for medical consideration.

He stated the sufferer was licensed useless by the medical physician on the hospital, and the corpse was deposited on the hospital mortuary for post-mortem.

In accordance with him, the machete utilized in perpetrating the crime was recovered as exhibit and the case transfered to the Prison Investigation Division for investigation.
