Plateau Meeting Suspends Two Council Chairmen

Chairmen of Qua’an Pan and Kanam Native Authorities Areas, Isaac Kwallu and Wakdung Abbas have been suspended by the Plateau state meeting on Tuesday June 30.

The 2 Chairmen who have been accused of illegally suspending their councillors and refusing to pay their entitlements, have been directed handy over to their deputies of their respective councils.

Speaker of the Home, Rt. Hon. Abok Ayuba who made the announcement stated;

“The State Meeting had directed the Native Authorities Chairmen to recall the councillors of varied wards which they earlier suspended within the two Native Authorities Areas and to pay them their entitlements however the Chairmen in query refused.

“We now have no selection than to droop the 2 Chairmen though, the Chairman of Quan-Pan complied, it wasn’t convincing.”

Home Committee Chairman on Data, Philip Dasun who addressed newsmen after the plenary stated they invited the 2 chairmen and subsequently directed them on what to do however they refused to obey the directives.

Dasun stated;

“They have been directed to pay the entitlements owed councillors however they fail to take action.

“Within the case of Kanam, he even sacked the substantive Clerk of the Home posted there by the Home of Meeting Service Fee and refuse to reinstate him as directed.”
