Police Arrest Ekiti Girl For Faking Her Kidnap To Extort Her Mother and father

The Ekiti state police command has apprehended and paraded a girl recognized as Mary Idris for allegedly faking her kidnap on August 9, 2020, to extort cash from her mother and father.

Mary was arrested alongside her confederate Victor Olawuse in Akure, the Ondo State capital, shortly after her youthful sister acquired a message conveying information of her alleged kidnap and demand for a ransom to be paid.

Ekiti state Commissioner of Police, Tunde Mobayo who was represented by the state Police Public Relations Officer Sunday Abutu in the course of the parade, stated;

“Mary’s mom got here to our station and reported that her daughter, Mary Idris, left residence on August 9, at about 4pm and by no means returned.

“She stated all efforts to succeed in her daughter through telephone calls proved abortive. After some time, the youthful sister of the suspect acquired a message by her telephone that Mary had been kidnapped and demanded ransom to be paid.

“The command’s Particular Anti-Theft Squad operatives tracked the telephone quantity that despatched the message to Akure, Ondo State, the place Mary was arrested alongside her confederate, Victor Olawuse.”

Mary confessed to the crime and likewise revealed that she organized the kidnap as a result of her mother and father weren’t taking good care of her.

She Mentioned;

“I organized the kidnap to get cash from my mother and father as a result of they aren’t taking correct care of me.”
