A police Inspector In the past Egharevbe has been dismissed by the Osun State Police Command.


In response to a report by Punch, he was dismissed for allegedly brutalising a 20-year-old clothier, Ayomide Taiwo, to demise.


Ayomide had been in a coma since Tuesday following the assault by Egharepbe, a police officer hooked up to Ibokun Divisional Headquarters, Osun State.


Recall that Ayomide, a resident of Owena, was travelling again to his base from Iragbiji after the Eid-el-Kabir pageant along with his buddy, Wasiu Oladimeji, when their bike was stopped by some policemen at a checkpoint in Ilahun.


Oladimeji, whereas narrating how the incident occurred on Thursday, defined that the policemen stopped their bike and demanded a bribe.


An uncle to the deceased, Segun Agboola, instructed The PUNCH that Ayomide handed on round 10am on Sunday.


The Command’s spokesperson, Opalola Yemisi, in a press release on Sunday in Osogbo, defined that Egharevbe was arrested after the incident.


Yemisi stated the inspector had been tried in orderly room and that the Commissioner of Police, Undie Adie, had beneficial his dismissal to the Inspector Normal of Police.


The assertion learn, “The Osun State Police Command needs to state that the officer, Inspector In the past Egharepbe, who brutalised a civilian in Ibokun has been tried and dismissed from the pressure.

“He will likely be charged to court docket on Monday for homicide.

Confirming the demise, Mr Popoola Adebayo, the deceased boss, stated Ayomide died on Sunday “as he had remained unconscious because the assault 5 days in the past.”


Earlier, the deceased brother, Oladimeji Wasiu, stated that the incident occurred when he and his late brother had been returning on a bike to Osogbo from Iragbiji, their house city, the place they went for the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.


Wasiu stated after they received to Ilahun village, alongside Ibokun street at about three:30 pm, they met law enforcement officials at a verify level who ordered their bike to cease.


He stated one the officers turned aggrieved when he requested Ayomide to pay N50, however he delayed in paying.


Wasiu stated when the officer came upon that Ayomide had large sum of cash with him, he turned livid and hit him with the butt of the gun, which compelled each of them to fall down and Ayomide turned unconscious.

“Whereas we had been coming from house, at Iragbiji after Sallah, we met 4 law enforcement officials on our approach.

“One of many law enforcement officials stopped us and requested for cash, when my brother introduced out cash to offer him, he noticed that he had an enormous quantity in his pocket, this angered him and he hit him with the butt of his gun on his head.

“And instantly we fell down from the bike whereas the remaining three officers ran away,” he stated.
