Policeman Arrested For Allegedly Brutalising Man Over N5,000 Bail

A police officer, Ophedo Chidera, has been arrested for allegedly brutalising a 35-year-old man, Chidiebere Azuatalam at Anara Divisional Police headquarters in Isiala Mbano Native Authorities Space of Imo state over N5, 000 bail bribe.

The spokesman of the Police Command, Orlando Ikeokwu, disclosed this to reporters in a cellphone interview on Monday.

The sufferer was on the police division to hunt the bailout of a widow, Akudo Chimezie, who was arrested by the officer earlier on Monday.

The cop had held the widow in custody and insisted she should give him N10,000 to regain freedom.

The sufferer informed journalists from a hospital mattress that Chidera requested him to carry N10,000 as a bribe for the window’s bailout.

Azuatalam mentioned that he pleaded with the constable to take N5,000 and launch his relative, an enchantment that infuriated the cop who pounced on him.
