Reps Give Naval Chief Seven Days To Explain Unaccounted N11.5M

Chief of Naval Workers, Ibok Ibas has been given 7 days to look earlier than the Home of Representatives committee on public accounts to defend a question on N11.5 million unaccounted for by the navy.

Ibas was served the question by the workplace of the auditor-general which stated that N11.5 million was paid as hire for a four-bedroom residence in Ikoyi, Lagos State by the Nigerian Navy. It was additional learnt that the receipt didn’t mirror the period of the hire and in violation of monetary laws, there was no deduction of Worth Added Tax (VAT) on the fee.

Nonetheless after a delegation of the navy which was led by the service’s assistant director of finances, Murtala Ahmed represented Mr Ibas earlier than the committee, chairman of the committee, Wole Oke (PDP, Osun), expressed dissatisfaction with non-appearance of the Chief of Naval Workers.

Oke stated;


“If the chief of Naval workers is indisposed to look earlier than this committee, the least I anticipate him to do is to ship both the Naval secretary or the chief of Naval account and budgets.

“Please this parliament belongs to you. Democracy survives on a tripod, one among which is a really sturdy and vibrant armed forces. I believe the navy has carried out nicely and fared higher below democratic governance.
