Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, the sacked Vice-Chancellor of the College of Lagos, has engaged a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mike Ozekhome, to file a go well with to problem his removing from workplace, The PUNCH experiences.

Ogundipe acknowledged within the letter that the act of the Governing Council of the college “purportedly eradicating” him from workplace was “unlawful and unconstitutional”, including that it was “carried out with out due course of and opposite to the College Act and different extant legal guidelines governing self-discipline, suspension and removing of the Vice-Chancellor of the college”.

His instruction to Ozekhome which was borne on his official letterhead was titled, ‘Instruction to institute authorized motion towards the Council and Professional-Chancellor and others of the College of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos’.

It partly learn, “I hereby formally temporary you to institute authorized proceedings towards the Council, Professional-Chancellor of the College of Lagos and others based mostly on their unlawful and unconstitutional act of purportedly eradicating me from workplace because the Vice-Chancellor of the College of Lagos.

“I actually imagine that this motion was carried out with out due course of and opposite to the College Act and different extant legal guidelines governing self-discipline, suspension and removing of the Vice-Chancellor of the College.

“I humbly urge you to make use of your authorized expertise to redress this grave injustice meted out to me.”

The sacking of the vice-chancellor was introduced at a gathering of the Governing Council of UNILAG held on the Nationwide Universities Fee in Abuja on Wednesday.

Whereas seven members of the council had been mentioned to have voted for the removing of Ogundipe, 4 voted towards it whereas considered one of them voted that he ought to somewhat be positioned on suspension.
