Seven Killed As Explosion Rocks NNPC Facility

In accordance with The PUNCH, an explosion on Oil Mining Lease 40 operated by the Nigerian Petroleum Improvement Firm has killed seven staff, the Nigerian Nationwide Petroleum Company introduced on Wednesday.

NPDC is the flagship subsidiary of NNPC.

The explosion occurred on Tuesday on the petroleum firm’s Benin River Valve Station.

The Group Normal Supervisor, Group Public Affairs Division, NNPC, Kennie Obateru, mentioned the BRVS explosion occurred at Gbetiokun, OML 40, operated by NPDC.

He disclosed this in a press release issued in Abuja entitled “NNPC Studies Explosion at NPDC’s Benin River Valve Station.”

Obateru mentioned, “The incident, which occurred on Tuesday throughout the set up of a ladder on a platform (Benin River Valve Station) for entry throughout discharging of Gbetiokun manufacturing, sadly prompted  seven fatalities.”

The nationwide oil agency mentioned an in depth investigation of the reason for the explosion had commenced.

It mentioned the Division of Petroleum Sources had been duly notified and Kind 41 was being ready for the trade regulator as required in circumstances of this nature.

“The our bodies of casualties have been deposited in a morgue in Sapele, whereas households of the personnel concerned are being contacted by their employers,”
NNPC said in its assertion.

It named the employers as Weld Affairs and Stream Impression, including that they have been consultants to NPDC.

NNPC mentioned all personnel on board the platform had been totally accounted for.

Its Group Managing Director, Mele Kyari, commiserated with the households of the bereaved.

He prayed that God grants them the fortitude to bear the irreparable lack of their family members.
