SSANU And NASU Announce Plans To Start 14 Days Nationwide Warning Strike

 The Non- Tutorial Workers Union(NASU) and the Senior Workers Affiliation of Nigerian Universities(SSANU) have revealed plans to embark on a 2-weeks warning strike starting from Monday, October 5.

The 2 teams collectively declared plans to embark on the economic motion after a gathering of its Joint Motion Committee(JAC) at present Friday, October 2.

Addressing newsmen shortly after their joint congress held on the College of Lagos(Akoka), the chairmen of SSANU and NASU of UNILAG department, Olusola Sowunmi, and Kehinde Ajibade, mentioned the strike is common and contain all public universities within the nation.

They mentioned the motion is a directive from the nationwide management of the 2 unions to all their branches nationwide. In response to them, the associations determined to embark on the strike in order to press house their calls for on contentious points from the federal authorities.

They listed them to incorporate non-payment of arrears of their nationwide minimal wage for 10 months, inconsistency within the implementation of the Built-in Payroll and Personnel Info System(IPPIS), non-payment of arrears of their earned allowance since 2012, non-showing of seriousness in renegotiating their 2009 settlement, neglect and poor funding of state universities, corruption and non-constitution of visitation panels in addition to a usurpation of headship in non-academic issues by the educational workers because the contentious points.

The associations warned that they’ll proceed on a complete strike ought to the Federal authorities fails to deal with all their points whereas their warning strike lasts.

The associations say all their members had been mobilized for compliance with the directive.

This improvement comes amidst the 7-month previous strike embarked upon by the Tutorial Workers Union of Universities ASUU which remains to be ongoing.
