Strike: Nigerian Govt releases details of agreements with labour

The Federal authorities on Monday made public the small print of its agreements with organised labour.

An announcement on FG’s Twitter deal with, mentioned officers held session conferences with leaders of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Commerce Union Congress (TUC) on September 15, 24 and 27, 2020.

The resolutions reached included institution of Technical Committee on Electrical energy Tariff.

It’s chaired by the Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, and contains ministries, businesses, NLC and TUC.

They may work over the following two weeks.

They’re to look at justification for the electrical energy tariff overview; overview the deployment of meters, and recommendation FG on points hindering implementation.

In the course of the two-week interval, DISCOs will droop implementation of the electrical energy tariff changes.

The assertion reiterated that petrol subsidy regime has stifled downstream sector progress.

“The Federal Authorities will proceed to facilitate licensing and supply of recent modular and common refineries. FG will guarantee supply of 1 million CNG/LPG Autogas Conversion Kits, Storage Skids and Allotting Models beneath the Nigeria Gasoline Growth Programme, by December 2021.

“A Governance Construction for this venture shall be established, and can embody Labour Representatives. FG will work to facilitate removing of tax on minimal wage. FG will make obtainable to Labour 133 CNG/LPG-driven Mass Transit Buses instantly, to be used in main cities nationwide, and thereafter lengthen to all States and LGAs earlier than December 2021.
