According to a report by Daily Post, two suspects have been arrested over the death of 10 family members suspected to have been poisoned through a “back to sender charm” in Gwanara district of Kwara North Senatorial district, Kwara State.

A statement by the spokesman of the state police command, Mr Okasanmi Ajayi, in Ilorin, the state capital, on Wednesday, said the state police commissioner, Mohammed Lawal Bagega, has ordered a discreet investigation into the incident.

Bagega was said to have also “advised sick members of the public to seek medical solutions in recognised medical facilities spread across the length and breadth of the state to avoid ugly incidents of this nature.”

In its own account of the incident, the state police command revealed that: “On 22/06/2021, at about 0700hours, one Ibrahim Bonnie, (22), of Fulani camp, Biogberu, via Gwanara, reported at the police station, that on 18/06/2021, one Okosi Musa (35) and one Worugura Julin, came to his mother, Pennia Bonnie (40) of the same Fulani camp, who was having a foot infection with a local herbal mixture, purportedly to be the cure for her ailment.

“She was also told to ensure that all her family members take out of the mixture to prevent the spread of the disease to other members of the family.

“After taking the local herbal mixture, the family members started dying one after the other, at the last count, 10 members including the infected mother also died.”

The suspects will have a day in court at the completion of investigation into the matter, the statement added.
