US President, Donald Trump has responded to claims by Pope Francis that he’s not a Christian.


Trump replied to the criticism at a marketing campaign rally in Kiawah Island, S.C., warning the pontiff in regards to the Islamic State, who he stated “their major aim is to get to the Vatican.”

“If and when the Vatican is attacked,” he stated, “the pope would solely want and have prayed that Donald Trump would have been elected President.”


The President had earlier in his speech, stated, “I just like the pope.”


Earlier than the Catholic pontiff arrived on the Mexican border, President Trump had frowned on the go to, describing Francis as a politician and accused him of appearing on the behest of the Mexican authorities.


Trump, a Presbyterian, has been attempting to make inroads amongst evangelical voters as he seeks reelection come November.


“I believe that the pope is a really political individual,” he stated.


When requested about Trump’s feedback, Francis laughed, saying, “Thank God he stated I used to be a politician as a result of Aristotle outlined the human individual as ‘animal politicus’.

“So no less than I’m a human individual. As as to whether I’m a pawn, properly, perhaps, I don’t know. I’ll go away that as much as your judgment and that of the folks.”
